SUBTEXT THE EXHIBITION
The Subtext Exhibition took place at the home of Jane Austen, in Chawton, Hampshire, England. Chawton, is a small village setting where the writer wrote some of her most famous pieces of work. Jane Austen lived in this home for many years and now exhibitions and artifacts are displayed within this setting.
In 2022, The amazing chance was offered to the University of Creative Arts, Master of Fine Arts students to exhibit within the premises. Amongst the group was International Welsh Artist Bridget Evans ( at the time going by her married name Harnett). The work that she showcased was related and interlinked to Jane Austen, the work she made and along with the house setting becoming a well presented piece of work.
The poster advertises the desk that Jane Austen wrote on, however the desk was situated next to the fireplace. Situated by the fireplace would be a fireguard of which Bridget had revamped and created a piece of artwork within to show her skills in embroidery.
