International Welsh Artist Bridget Harnett, is well known for painting in acrylics. However recently she challenged herself to paint four paintings in oil. The oil paintings have been taken seriously and worked on in a series of time and revisiting.

OPEN HEART SURGERY
The four circle hearts were built over a series of time using oil paint as the medium. The medium has been trial and error however the work produced has been an outstanding result.
The open heart surgery is a piece about a deconstructed heart.
The hearts are a reflection of dedication to the coal industry, ripped to shreds, all four show the powerful beating and dynamics that complicated the industry. The hearts are also a response to hurt and heartache, Artist Bridget Evans was going through with at the time.
The whole connection of the open heart surgery work led me onto create more responses to the emotions I had as a artist between June, July and August 2023.

The dissection works above of 4 thin canvases placed together also was painted in oils. The dissection along with Open heart surgery works are together an amazing reflection of the industry of coal, that International Welsh Artist Bridget Evans wanted to demonstrate.
The industry of coal, has been placed in a death and stripped into a dissected and rotted industry that in some places in United Kingdom, no longer exist. The whole reflection of this matched up with a human being and the death of a body.
With this, the death of artists father around this time is also a reflection within the creation of this piece of work. The grey and brown colouring shows the decaying body, as well the matching decay of a coal industry.
