Paperworks: THE ADAPTION: 'Layers'

Updated: Apr 15, 2023

International welsh artist Bridget Evans, is currently based within her own home studio at Hampshire-Surrey Borders. With recent works developing into a regular theme of reusing paper and clear cards such as acetate or cellophane to create many combinations of work.

The whole idea of Paper-works: THE ADAPTION: 'Layers', is to create a theme of paper-works that look at the repetitive of churning out works and each block of paper is represented differently and made over a series of days rather than within the hour.

The repetitive works really sheds light on the chores within the home that take over creativity. Cleaning Rota's, lifestyle choices and other work commitments restrict creativity to applicate to the arts, that Bridget thoroughly enjoys.

Cellophane and acetate

The clear acetate has a variety of block shapes of plain white paper on the middle of the clear small plastic sheeting. Each block represents a repetitive domestic chore that International Welsh Artist Bridget Evans had to comprehend whilst creating artwork. The clear and clean paper really shows the productivity of cleaning, coping and dealing with an Obsessive Compulsory Disorder and Addictive Behaviour.

Repetitive Works

The theme of repetitive work is through-out this collection of paper-works. International Welsh Artist Bridget Evans- took the paper and cut it up into a variety of sizing and re-stuck them in no particular order other than an in-line look of which had gaps to see the cardboard behind.

Colour Restricted

The artwork above is produced and created by Bridget Evans. International Welsh Artist, produced a series of paper collages, however this one is placed on a background of colour. The colour is rainbow like with a variety of colours seeping through.

The repeat of white paper shows the consistency and dedication to apply the white paper over on the coloured board. Each white piece represents a continuum of domestic chores of which reflect the life of an artist, mother and home keeper.

Cellophane Womb

The cellophane material is clear and flimsy. It is very hard to stick material work on and the white wallpaper, newspaper and drawings needed time to apply and dry. Each block of paper was repeated and applied during chores that had been accomplished within the home. The womb picture in the middle of the artwork, represents the roschach work Bridget has created before and now.

Misty Blue

International Welsh Artist Bridget Evans, named this piece Misty Blue. The newspaper was cut and stuck onto cellophane and a clear acetate. The misty blue colour has come through the design and is really made the aesthetics of this piece appealing.

Time of elements

Time of elements really says it all. It is a piece of work that reflects the elements of time such as design and space. The creation of this piece is layered sections of cut newspaper. It has a folded newspaper in the middle and this flaps in the wind, to reflect the elements.
